Welcome

Welcome to our old farmhouse. Over the past year I have learned so much history of this house and the people who lived here. Ninety six years of love, loss, hopes and dreams. Preservation continues and there is always a repair to be done. We are trying to be purest in our preservation as much as we possibly can. I hope you follow along and each week I will try to give you a little history of the house as well as the first owners of the house. I've been lucky enough to find a journal from a Granddaughter who talks about the house as well as her Grandparents. So come follow along and learn about this old house as well as the occupants, old and new.

A Shelf and A Giveaway!!!!

A huge "Thank You" to Marty at
for hosting today's event. Be sure to
stop by for a visit with everyone.
I have been MIA for the last few days
due to a little side trip to Charleston for
the Spoleto Festival. Be sure to join me
for Outdoor Wednesday and see some of
the festivities I had a chance to catch there.
Now onto the giveaway, June 9th is my one
year anniversary. I have really thought long
and hard about what to give, sooo....
I have come up with three books I thought
might appeal to everyone.....
Here they are:
Better Homes and Gardens
Style by Nature, this is a wonderful decorating
book.
The next is Good Things from Martha Stewart.
I own this book and I love it. Tons of wonderful
ideals.
The next is Frame Your Memories from
Readers Digest.
I thought with the variety, these three books
would appeal to the gardeners, decorators, cooks
and all the crafty people out there.
The rules are simple, if you are a follower or you
become a follower all you have to do is leave a
comment at the end of the post and let me know
and you will be entered for the drawing.
The drawing will be held on June the 10th. You only have to enter once and be a follower,
for a chance to win!!!
I like things simple.
Sorry for the glare, I will get a better picture of this one.
Now onto my table top, or should I say shelf
top? This is a shelf in my mud room that is
usually full of gloves, hats and you know all
that winter stuff we don't want to think about
for a long, long time.
So last week before leaving I decided to hide
all that awful stuff and change the area into
a little pantry.
Old diner dishes with a little hen.
A little copper, a little red and a French tray.
Banish the coats!!!
Bring in the copper and baskets.
I hope you enjoyed you visit.
Don't forget to leave me a comment and let me
know that you are following for a chance to win.
I look forward to hearing from you!
Good Luck!!!

Bathroom Scaping

It's time for Table Top Tuesday, so be sure
to stop by
and visit with Marty and all of today's
participants.
Thanks Marty for hosting.
I'm bathroom scaping today.
I decided to change the master bath and
bedroom a little for the summer. So I gave
them both a little nautical feel. The master
suite is somewhat hidden from the rest of
the house so I can get by with decorating
these two rooms a little differently and not
clashing with the rest of the house.
I found two of these large vases a couple of
weeks ago at a second hand store in a
neighboring town. They were both hand
painted. I'll show you the other one in the
bedroom next week. I'm using this one
beside my bathtub.
Starfish plates, that I used in one
of my tablescapes last year. Thrift store
candle holders.
Moving to my dressing table, I added a little
silver for some glam.
I used another starfish plate and the large
shell vase I found at a yard sale last year.
A dollar bargain! All placed on a hand me
down, has seem better days painted white
tray. Have you ever noticed how hard it is
to take a picture with a mirror involved?
See my hand and fingers?
Thanks for visiting, don't forget to let me
know what you think, I love hearing from
you.

An Island Makeover

Thanks to Susan at
for hosting today's event.
Be sure to stop by and visit with all of
today's participants for lots of great ideals
and inspiration.
Today is my last installment of my mini
kitchen makeover. This was my kitchen last
fall, not allot of drama going on with the island.
I also did a pretty good job of hiding the old
refrigerator, it was really an old one, but came
with the house, still worked and just wasn't a
priority to replace.
After the ebony glaze!
So what do you think?
Better or not?
I went with the black refrigerator due to the
fact that the ovens, cook top and other
appliances were black. With the possibility
that we may be selling in the next couple
of years, I wanted to make things a little easier
if and when that time comes.
Have any suggestions, any comments, let me
know. Thanks for coming by!

They Hatched

Be sure to stop by
for a visit with Susan and all
of today's participants.
My little ones have hatched!
She was off the nest once last
week with the eggs uncovered
and I was able to count seventeen
eggs. I'm not sure how many have
hatched, it's very chilly here, cold and
rainy, so all I have been able to see
was a little head peaking out every
now and then. I will have some great
pictures next week to share.
Mom seems to be very relaxed and
calm when I go to the nest, she is
letting me put her food within
about six inches of the nest.
I don't have allot to post this week, we have
had allot of rain and like I said its very chilly.
I did manage to find some cute little outdoor
lights over the weekend.
They are little copper lanterns, (You know
Copper~n~Things).
I put them in the ivy I have growing on the
side of the house. I need to get another set
and have them go up the ivy a little more.
This side of the house gets allot of evening
sun and stays very cool in the summer. I'm
thinking a nice place to sit and relax.
Maybe a future project???
Thanks for stopping by for a visit.

A Desk Redo

Thanks Marty for hosting today's event.
Be sure to make a stop at
"A Stroll Thru Life" to visit with Marty and all of today's
talented party people.
I did a little change to my Grandmothers
antique desk I use in my dining room.
As I have told you before, this was one of
the first pieces of furniture she and my
Grandfather bought after they were
married. So now I have been given the
honor of taking care of it until its handed
down to one of my children.
I had a little oriental chest on it (an extra place
for dish storage) for the longest time, then
decided to move the chest to another room.
So I added my Big Lots cloche and put the
clock under it.
A night view.
I used a gold charger under the clock
and cloche.
The clock is from Stein Mart and has
grapes and grape leaves on it.
A wider view of the dining room, where you
can see the matching candle holders on the
dining room table.
Once again, don't forget to make a stop
and see all the wonderful creativity
waiting for you at
Thanks for stopping by, hope you enjoyed
your visit.

A Story Of Two Lanterns

Thanks Susan for hosting today's event.
Be sure to stop by
and visit with all of today's participants.
Last week I told you, I would milk one more
post from my kitchen update, but I decided
to take it outside this week.
This is a little lantern I have on my deck, (I know
change the light bulb), she has a matching sister,
in far worse shape than she was in. This one looks
pretty good after a good cleaning and a fresh coat
of paint.
Her matching sister had more problems,
missing electrical cords ,etc., she had lived a harder
life!
DH offered to rewire and get her going again,
but I told him I thought I might have a
better ideal!!
He was great to cut all the wire screen for me,
and after a little cleaning and a couple coats
of black paint....
The screen was left over from the kitchen
cabinet project, the lanterns were FREE,
so after hitting my stash of black paint...
I'm Happy!!!!!
They still need one more coat of paint, rain, rain
go away.
Perfect spot for a morning cup of coffee,
afternoon tea or maybe a glass of wine in
the evening.
Hope you enjoyed your visit, don't forget to let me know what you think. I love hearing from you!!! Bye For Now,
