Welcome

Welcome to our old farmhouse. Over the past year I have learned so much history of this house and the people who lived here. Ninety six years of love, loss, hopes and dreams. Preservation continues and there is always a repair to be done. We are trying to be purest in our preservation as much as we possibly can. I hope you follow along and each week I will try to give you a little history of the house as well as the first owners of the house. I've been lucky enough to find a journal from a Granddaughter who talks about the house as well as her Grandparents. So come follow along and learn about this old house as well as the occupants, old and new.

Welcome To My Table Top Tuesday!

 Welcome to my chaotic world!
We have a closing date for Friday, unless it gets
changed again. I have been visiting each of you
and I must say, there is some really fantastic
fall decorating going on out there!
Want to meet a very good friend of mine?
Now as silly or crazy as this will be to the rest of
you, as I cleaned out the attic, I had to do one
bit of fall decorating!

Just wanted to say Welcome to the two little
beautiful girls that will be living here!
I hope you have many happy days in the ole girl!
Thanks for visiting.

Before I Packed It Away

Yes, as I packed things last week, I just couldn't
resist doing a little vignette. Here is another of
my great ceramic pots I found last summer at a
yard sale! I suppose this could be used for chili,
beans, soup, I just loved the little bowls that
attach to the side!
Mr. Roo is great for holding bread. A couple of
S & P from the Dollar Store, last year.
Nothing to elaborate or creative, and I guess a little
silly when your packing to move. But...
I couldn't resist.

Thanks for visiting,

See you there.

My New Best Friends

 Meet my new best friends!
They are wonderful!
These came from Dollar General, since I have to travel
thirty five miles to get the real space bags, thought I would
give these a try!
Sooo... from this to.....

This, two large afghans and a lap quilt!
A linen closet and a trunk!
Not bad!
See you for Table Top Tuesday!

No Cost Changes

As you know we have had our house on the market
for the last eight months. But we all need a little change
in our lives even when we are selling, so to add a
little spice to the kitchen and the office area I
removed a couple of cabinet doors. Not knowing if
it was a detail that anyone would like, I carefully
explained that each door was wrapped and stored
away and could be put back into place very easily.
The change was a huge success, everyone loved it said
it really broke up all the wood. This kitchen has thirty two
cabinets, allot of wood!
One of the cabinets in the office area of the kitchen.
Great storage for cookbooks!

 Small cabinet over my stove.

If for any reason we end up staying here, I think a
little paint inside would be a plus. What do you think?
But for now we have a closing date of October 11th.
I hope you will join me for a new journey, we will be in
a rental for a few months, until we decide were we want
to buy. It's been really hard to house hunt living in two
different states!
So for now join me at
for Table Top Tuesday.

Are You Brand Loyal?

 Are you brand loyal?
Do you coupon?
A little thing my oldest daughter got me into this summer.
I haven't gotten the extreme couponing down yet and I don't
think we need fifty toothbrushes. Some days I can can hit
50 to 90% off. I usually set aside a certain amount every
week, search the sale papers the Internet, grab my coupons
and have fun! Here is this weeks haul, total price $28.67,
paid $20.67 with tax, an $8.00 savings.
As much as I love to decorate and change things
around, we still have to do the dreaded, CLEANING!
Since I have two houses to stock this is actually a
hobby that is helpful. Not to mention I really can't
do any redecorating or changing at this time.
Tried these babies yet?
They are great!
I have the stainless look one already in my kitchen.
Soiled hands after handling meat, no problem and no mess
where you have touched a soap dispenser.
I scored this one for $7.00, but made out like a bandit on
my first one buy stacking  Dollar General coupon with a
manufacturer's coupon, paid $2.00 for my first one!
See you soon,
Sandy
Maybe someday I will show you my pitiful little stash!

"I've got the blues"

Just a little kitchen counter vignette.
The blue bottles were a gift from my  father in law.
The wine bottle holder a thrift store find. The metal rooster
was a gift from my daughter a few years ago.
I placed enerything in a shallow black wicker tray
then places that on a wicker placemat for a little interest.
 Tart burner from Kirklands.
Tuned an old picnic basket into a holder for my
dishwashing detergent. Used a couple of old wine
bottles to hold the detergent.

Thanks for stoppinging by.
I am joining Marty at "A Stroll Thru Life"
for Table Top Tuesday.
See You There,
Sandy

A Few Completed Projects in 2011

As summer winds down here are a few of the projects
I managed to complete.
 My summer door wreath.
A little black and white wreath I used for late winter
and early spring.

A few new pillows and chair cousins for the family room.

A great little chair cover I found at the thrift store.
And my old star that I covered in French wrapping paper
after seeing one at Hobby Lobby.
Hope you had the opportunity to finish a few projects.
See you soon.

Pending Contract

Yippee, we are finally under contract!  Signed last night!
It has been a very long eight months, but I guess I should feel very
blessed, since it is taking some people years to sell!
I guess it helps that there are only four houses in town for sell.
So now will come the fun (not so fun) part, packing, tossing more
and finding another place. At least DH and I will wake up in the
same state! So maybe if all goes well I can meet some of the creative
and talented  SC bloggers I stalk  mean follow!

See you soon,
Sandy

Working With What You Have!

Not allot has changed in the dining room.
If you read my last post, you saw that the house has
been on the market for the last eight months and
anyone who has sold a home knows what the most
dreaded word is...declutter and maybe there is one
more depersonalize!!!!!
OK so now we are "For Sale By Owner"
one possible contract this week! If not the house will
come off the market until spring! The winters are just to
bad here to try to move! Our plans are to downsize, since
we are now empty nester's!
A little pretty from a garage sale last summer with
clearance candles from TJ Maxx. Adds a little fall
touch with the hydrangeas.

 My Grandmother's desk.
Now you will think I am totally crazy!
See the large pot? A four dollar garage sale find this
summer, I know who buys these things when they may
making a three hundred mile move? That would be ME!
 Love the shape and color!

The color matches my little square plates perfectly!
Moved my little french settee back to the dining room
 for a change.
Well that's all for now!
See you soon.
