Welcome

Welcome to our old farmhouse. Over the past year I have learned so much history of this house and the people who lived here. Ninety six years of love, loss, hopes and dreams. Preservation continues and there is always a repair to be done. We are trying to be purest in our preservation as much as we possibly can. I hope you follow along and each week I will try to give you a little history of the house as well as the first owners of the house. I've been lucky enough to find a journal from a Granddaughter who talks about the house as well as her Grandparents. So come follow along and learn about this old house as well as the occupants, old and new.

Pink and Pretty

Thanks for stopping by. I have a very short little post tonight. Lots of packing going on. Yes, we made our decision. Keep reading and you will find out which house we choose. This is my
contribution for the week, a cute little pink tea set, white napkins and a small white table cloth, all found at yard sales. The glass tea pot was a gift from a dear friend and my way of storing my green tea and making it look a little dressed up.
I love all the detail.

As I said, a  very short post.
Now where do you think you might see this next time?

And maybe this.........
The little farm house won!
Our move in date is to be June 1st, I am thankful that the house is only two blocks from where we are currently renting. Since the house sits on main street and is on the corner lot. I have lots of drapes to find  and since the windows are so large and the ceilings so high, my challenge has started. Decorating is going to be so much fun!!!! I hope everyone has lots of suggestions and ideals for me!! If you would like to see more of this house go here.

Most of our belongings have been packed away since last August, when we accepted the offer on our house, so this will be just like Christmas for me!
I just might be MIA for a bit, but I will be back .
See you soon!
Sandy

From The Old To The New

Since leaving a 3400 square ft house and moving into 1400 square ft rental, I have had to become
a little creative in the the storage area of my life. I now have a grand total of five cabinets in the kitchen so a trip to Target for some heavy duty kitchen shelving and a few thrift store and yard sale
finds and here is my solution. I know this is not a table top, but since it's very open and I look at it
everyday hope it qualifies.
Large jars and lots of baskets.

My solution for all those lids is this basket. A $1.00 find at a yard sale and a little stain, wrapping paper from the Dollar Tree and the S from Hobby Lobby and I think it works.

See my lids peaking up?

A great jar from Good Will, again my wrapping paper, a scrape piece of rope and my label is complete.

Yes, these are those large pickle jars with other baking supplies in them!

Well I guess that's all for now, but keep looking you may find more ideals below that inspire you.
Yes, you guessed it, another house!
We are still on the hunt for a house, so here are a few pictures from a model home/sales office I looked at recently.
Yes, it is a total change from the other pictures I have posted, but a nice change and lots of
decorating ideals. This particular home is built to mimic the  houses in downtown Charleston.

Front entry and a living room or dining room. The builder had it staged as a living room.

Kitchen, breakfast/dining room, and family room area.

I know everyone is going lighter in their color schemes, but I love all the color in this house.
This powder room is to cute!

The upstairs game room, family room, home office.
This is the first thing you saw as you went up the stairs, (sorry it is so dark).

Master bedroom

Is this not to cute? What little girl wouldn't love sleeping in here.

Decisions, decisions. Well I guess that's all for now.
Thanks for visiting.

Another Thrift Store Find

Just a short little post to show a great thrift store find. I found this beauty (remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder) a few weeks ago. Then the question came, where are you going to use it, and a better question, where are you going to store it? My solution, for now at least.....
Outside of course!
And who could pass up a $35.00 antique mantle?
A couple of ferns and a rocking chair, and your good to go.
As you know we have been house hunting, so here are a few pictures of one of the places we really liked, but it just needed tooooo much work! It had tons of charm!
Great little living room and I adore the french doors going to the dinning room. Wonderful high ceilings.
Not a great picture of the dinning room but I did love the built in china cabinet and fireplace.

Gotta love a front porch!
Thanks for visiting.
