Welcome

Welcome to our old farmhouse. Over the past year I have learned so much history of this house and the people who lived here. Ninety six years of love, loss, hopes and dreams. Preservation continues and there is always a repair to be done. We are trying to be purest in our preservation as much as we possibly can. I hope you follow along and each week I will try to give you a little history of the house as well as the first owners of the house. I've been lucky enough to find a journal from a Granddaughter who talks about the house as well as her Grandparents. So come follow along and learn about this old house as well as the occupants, old and new.

Wednesday Ladies Valentine Lunch 2012

What do they say? Better late than never!
Since moving back to SC I have met a great group of
ladies. Every Wednesday we go to lunch and then hit
the Consignment, Antique and Thrift stores in town.
In December we decided  to break up the routine
a little, one week a month someone would host lunch
at their house. This month was my turn. I have to
admit I borrowed a dining room, yes I said borrowed!
Since we are still living elbow to elbow, my neighbor
was kind enough to let me use her dining room. I
emptied the china cabinet, stood on my head looking
through boxes for needed items and this was my
creation. Everything here, I already owned with the
exception on the bowls, which were found at Ross.

Can't have a great Valentine lunch with out great
deserts.

I'm linking up to "A Stroll Thru Life"  for
Table Top Tuesday.
See you there.

Happy Valentines Day

Happy Valentines Day Everyone!
I changed up my Bombay chest a little for
Valentines Day. So come enjoy a glass of wine and
enjoy the evening!
A Family Dollar Store painting I found years ago.
I love all the color!
I got most of the feathers for the arrangement at
Hobby Lobby. I already had the grass.

The next photos are from my volunteer job in
Charleston at Middleton Plantation. So unfortunately
this little place is not on my list to buy. But a girl can
 dream, can't she.
Some of the beautiful Camellias in bloom.
A view of the Ashley River from the ruins of the
main house.
The ruins of the main house.

The reflecting pond

I'm linking up with "A Stroll Thru Life " tonight for
Table Top Tuesday. See you there!

China Cabinet Redo

Thanks for taking the time to stop by for a visit. There's
not allot I can do with all this stuff in this little space,
so I decided to make a few changes to my china hutch.
The inspiration came from this place mat I found at Ross
last fall.
The hutch was originally a dark wood tone, I wanted
to use it with the black chest I showed last week for
Table Top Tuesday so I gave her a good ole coat of
black paint and a little distressing and the pieces work
pretty well together.
I found this wrapping paper at the Dollar Tree last
year at Christmas. It's not an exact match, but pretty
close to the place mat.

Sorry for the glare!

So I guess thats about it for my handiwork this week.
So lets do a little house shopping in my little town.
Now I can promise you that if I had the chance ten
years ago to buy this ole girl, she would have been
mine. She a little big for just two people, at 3800
square foot she is only 400 square foot larger than
our old house and that's a little much. If you like
old houses, you will be drooling over this one!

Would you like to sip some tea on the porch?
Gotta love those windows and doors!
Music room, ladies parlor?
Lots of great dinners here, I bet!!
Can we say Foyer??
Upstairs hallway leading to the upstairs balcony.
One of the four bedrooms.
Ok, so now I'm going to walk my babies and since
this ole girl is on our walking route I'm going to drool.
But first, I'm going to join in Table Top Tuesday at
