Welcome

Welcome to our old farmhouse. Over the past year I have learned so much history of this house and the people who lived here. Ninety six years of love, loss, hopes and dreams. Preservation continues and there is always a repair to be done. We are trying to be purest in our preservation as much as we possibly can. I hope you follow along and each week I will try to give you a little history of the house as well as the first owners of the house. I've been lucky enough to find a journal from a Granddaughter who talks about the house as well as her Grandparents. So come follow along and learn about this old house as well as the occupants, old and new.

Old Style

A little Spring cleaning going on here. Since this is an old house and I have a passion for antiques, I have tried to keep with the era and the feeling of the house. I know most people are going with beautiful whites, blue and the very pastel colors, which I think are beautiful, but,  I think I will stay with my reds. The wall color in this room is a little darker than antique white and I can live with it since it matches the adjoining bathroom perfectly. So I guess in a way I am somewhat in style color. I added the sheer curtains to the bed since Spring and Summer will be here soon. Traditionally this type of curtain would have been used in the summer to keep the mosquitoes away at night and a heavier curtain in the winter to keep the warmth in the bed chamber.

How about an afternoon nap before dinner?

Don't forget your gloves, purse and pearls.

Of course I have added more toile fabric to a side table and window panels.

The extra fabric on the window gives guest a little more privacy since we  live on main street.

That's all for now. I hope you enjoyed my attempt at bring a little French style into my old house.
See you soon,
Sandy

A New Lantern

Been away for a while, lots of things going on here, so blogging had to
take a back seat. Just a short little post showing my new lantern I got
at Christmas. I worked at a local store November and December and these
were the newest lanterns we received to sell . They are called Bethlehem
lanterns, they have a very realistic flame that flickers and timer. So just enjoy
a little winter tablescape and a new look for my dining room mantle.

Thanks for visiting.
