Welcome

Welcome to our old farmhouse. Over the past year I have learned so much history of this house and the people who lived here. Ninety six years of love, loss, hopes and dreams. Preservation continues and there is always a repair to be done. We are trying to be purest in our preservation as much as we possibly can. I hope you follow along and each week I will try to give you a little history of the house as well as the first owners of the house. I've been lucky enough to find a journal from a Granddaughter who talks about the house as well as her Grandparents. So come follow along and learn about this old house as well as the occupants, old and new.

A Blast From The Past

Thanks to Marty at
for hosting today's event.
If you saw my post yesterday, you saw my 80's
fifty cent lamps, given a little style!
So here they are on my bedroom tables!
The vase was also a yard sale find and I also
added another of my starfish desert plates.
An old carpenters chest that I have on a stand
for one of my other night stands. I also added
the other matching yard sale vase.
This was such a fun project.
Thanks for visiting.
Bye For Now,

Fifty Cent Lamps

I hope you will join me at
for Metamorphosis Monday.
Well tonight you get to see a real blast from the
past!!!
Does anyone remember this lovely blue that
was the rage of the 80's?
Remember the decor from the Golden Girls?
These two old girls were found at a garage sale
more than a year ago. I have had a vision of a
tropical, beach bedroom and master bath for
quiet sometime, but always start another project
before I get to the master bedroom. I already have
two wonderful round white ottomans in my
bedroom and wanted to add more white to the room.
White in my bedroom just says rest and relaxation,
at least to me!
This was the weekend!!
So here is one of the old girls in all her blueness!!
Well for .50, what do I have to loose?
I sprayed the entire lamp with brushed metal
spray paint, then a light coat of white over that.
The lamps came with oval shades which were very
discolored and dingy looking, so I pulled out the
fabric stash and added a little pure white cotton
fabric to the shades. The fringe came from a
white valance I had, so I added that to the bottom.
A little shell hanging from a piece of rope and
I now have a little nautical going in the bedroom.
So join me tomorrow for Tabletop Tuesday
and I will show you the old girls all decked out.
Thanks for visiting!!!

Container Gardening

Join me at
for Fertilizer Friday.
I decided this summer I would
do several containers for the deck,
to add a little color and interest to that
space.
My red hibiscus, this a a new plant, I lost my
peach colored one last winter that I had for
several years.
My pond... Sweet potato vine
Asparagus fern
I have several different plants in this just for
interest.
One of my favorites, you will see
this guy allot this fall as I try to incorporate
him into my fall decorating!
Love the color of this ivy. Thanks for visiting.
Don't forget to stop in at Tootsie Time!

Full Of Ideals

Are you a fan of southern style and decorating?
If you are, this is the book for you!
My gift from Hubby last weekend! Of course I
went through the whole book the first day, started
picking out my favorite ideals, and have started the
book again!
A little peak at some of the ideals.
The book has been broken down into seasons and has
wonderful suggestions and hints on how to
achieve each look.
Sorry for the bad photography!
Don't you love the pumpkins going up that beautiful
staircase?
Makes you want to decorate for fall. This room makes you want to sit and put your feet up.
Look at all the pattern and color!
A wonderful southern garden.
Ready to eat? I am!!!!
I could live here!
Another good read and some great ideals!
White spray paint!
Thanks for visiting.
