The Babies Are Coming To Grandma's House

I'm fluffing the pillows and making the rooms smell good.
Three of my Grandchildren are coming to visit this weekend.
All little girls need their own space with lots of dolls to play
with and a nice canopy to snuggle under.
I can do anything my brother can do!
I'm a loner, I can entertain myself.
All little boys need their space too. A picket fence bed will
be good to snuggle in, under a birdhouse blanket.
My Little Man.
Mom and Dad will need a little refuge for themselves.
A nice feather mattress, down comforter and pillows.
Don't worry about the kids they are with me!!
I realized once I had posted these pictures these rooms look
very white, trust me they are not. This room has red carpet
and red accessories. And the girls room has dark blue carpet
with blue accessories. I use allot of toile fabric with French
antiques as well as English and American antiques.
Feel free to leave a comment or suggestion and I will see
everyone Thursday at Susan's. Have a great week!!!

Triple Post

I would like to thank both our hosts for these parties, and
remind everyone to visit and get some really great ideals.
I am also going to try and answer a few questions or show a
picture, since I have been bad and not answered questions
individually, I don't know where my time goes. I would also
like to Thank everyone for your gracious and kind comments
and all your encouragement it means the world to me!!!
This is a full view of the pepper grinder I used on my
Tuscany tablescape.
I had several people commenting on my cloche, they
thought it might be an antique because of the air
bubbles in it. It's not!!! I bought it several years ago
at Big Lots.
This is a larger picture of my wine rack. Yes it is shaped
like a cello, it holds ten bottles of wine. It was a gift
from my DH a couple of years ago for Valentines Day.
As you can tell I like unusual stuff, and take my word
for it you will be seeing more!! Once again Thank You
for your interest.
Now for my first Thrifty find. I have no ideal what this is.
I found it at the thrift store for .50 and just couldn't pass
it up. Looks like it may have been some sort of drying rack.
After a few new spindles on the bottom and a little stain,
not to bad. But the question will be asked, (what is that
thing)?
Well it could hold extra dishes and linens.
Let me think of something else I could do with it.
My next find was a .25 tassel. Way to plain for me!!!
See I told you I knew what this thing was. Simple, it holds
guest towels .
Now I can live with this tassel.
I know I said last Sunday I would show you the completed
facelift to one of my guest bathrooms. But as construction
goes, it didn't all go this week. So I am going to show you a
sneak peek, at some of whats gone on. So here we go!!!
This was the beautiful stick on tile we had before!!!
Sorry I didn't mean to hurt your eyes twice.
This is what I am living with now.
This my dear friends is the cottage cheese off the ceiling.
And if you think this is ugly, you would not have wanted
to see me, because I was the scrapper, sander and painter.
The plain white textured wall.
Same wall with some bead board and my surprise
piece for the room. You will find a surprise peice in every
room in my house. You can still see a little piece of the green
floor in the background. I love the contrast between all the
white and the antique chest. I changed the knobs from the
original wooden knobs the chrome and white. The chest
recieved a very light sanding, then staining. I failed to get a
picture of the old vanity, but next week you will know what it
lookied like when I show you a picture of the lighting, it all
matched, in the 70's. I hope you have enjoyed your visit and
will come back soon. Please leave a comment, and I will see
everyone at Barb's Tuesday!!!

Welcome to another Tablescape Thursday hosted by the
gracious Susan at Between Naps On The Porch. Please
be sure to stop by Susan's to see all the beautiful tablescapes.
Since our rain has subsided we will be dinning on the deck tonight.
So please join me for my version of Dinner in Tuscany
A little knowledge is good!!!
So glad you could join me, I am using a very simple table setting.
A very pale gold tablecloth with dark gold fabric crossing over
to define my place settings. We will be using tea towels for napkins
with the same dark gold in the pattern. My serving bowls are
the same dark golds and earth tones that are in my plates.
Would you like to sit on the bench or maybe pick your style
of chair, nothing matches tonight.
Grapevine hanging from above.
Our centerpiece , jars of pasta placed between two large
candle holders. I used dark gold candles tonight for lighting.
We have a little biscotti, a pepper grinder for fresh pepper
and a little olive oil for those who would like some.
Time for dinner to be served!!!
I have used very plain earth colored dinner plates
with dark rich colored gold salad plates. The
silverware is gold, a gift, several years ago from
my husbands parents.
Two different wine glasses, one smaller plan one and a
larger one with grapes etched into them. Shall we go to
the wine rack for our wine.
Not a great selection, but will have to do.
Shall we eat? One of my favorite things, the pepper grinder
that looks like a wine bottle.
I hope you have enjoyed our little dinner and will visit
again soon. Maybe someday soon we will go to France for
dinner (on my deck of course). Please leave a comment,
and don't forget to visit all the other beautiful
tablescapes. Everyone have a great weekend and
I will see you Monday!!!

Welcome to another Metamorphosis Monday hosted
by Susan at Between Naps On The Porch. Everyone be
sure to visit Susan and all the other participants for
this event and some great ideals. Thanks Susan for
hosting this event. This is a picture of my house in 2005 after move in day.
Not allot of landscaping, just some large old shrubs.
We have moved along a little to 2006. A little better,
this was the first small pond I had in the front yard.
And notice the difference the white shutters made.
Day lily bed not too bad looking. Now moving along to 2009.
Large old shrubs are gone, flower beds a little more full.
Day lily bed 2009.
A sea of yellow with the river rock border.
Willow tree is much larger.
Riverbed that runs into the new goldfish pond.
Goldfish are camera shy.
This little wilderness bed is at the end of the driveway
under trees and next to the basket ball court. Not allot
of sun here, sometimes allot of abuse from the balls,
but it seems to be doing well, and the wildlife love it.
Hope you have enjoyed your little visit, and will
visit again. Please leave a comment, and I will see
everyone Tuesday at Barb's for Tea Time Tuesday..
Next week I hope to post before and after pictures
of the face lift I am giving one of my guest bathrooms.
A little hint it involves an antique chest, a vessel sink
and some red oak plank flooring.

Tablescape Thursday

Welcome to another Tablescape Thursday
hosted by Susan at Between Naps On The Porch.
Thank you Susan for hosting this party.
My tablescape this week was to be outside but
since we have had three weeks of continuous
rain I had to bring the outdoors in...
Once again we are in the dining room going blue
for our pretend blue sky..
A little Welcome for my friends....
My tablescape is very whimsical today, I have used
two different color napkins with ivy from the garden as
napkin rings. No place mats or chargers, I used
cheesecloth to define the place settings.
White handles on the silverware.
No candles today, just a couple of antique lamps.
More cuttings from the garden.
A beautiful magnolia.
Still waiting on the Butler!!!
But we have a bell today!!
These are dishes that my DH bought me after we
moved into our first house. They are about
seventeen years old.
I have used blue translucent salad plates.
A water and wine glass.
A very whimsical wine glass, look at the stem!!! Says 2001..
I hope you enjoyed your visit and will come back very
soon. Please don't forget to leave a comment.

Porch & Patio Party

Welcome to another Porch & Patio Party Wednesday hosted
by the gracious Barb at Grits and Glamour. Be sure to visit Barb
and check out all the creative post. This is not really a porch it's
just a little niche as you come into my backdoor from the carport.
I love going out here and drinking coffee in the morning, tea in the
afternoon, or maybe just read a little.
It's even great sitting out here at night, I have two lamps
out here, if you get a little chilly I even have a quilt. The little purple table the fern is sitting on serves two purposes when not holding the fern, its holds my grandkids snacks. Mr. lamb hiding, waiting on the little ones to come back.
This dish is from a friend that I could never come up with
words to tell you about her, she's that special to me, and
she never misses Girls Night at my house!! Thanks Kim,
for your friendship and the dish. If you saw my post from
Monday, you saw my front porch and I also had it in
purple. I do this for a reason I have three doors that are
visible to the street in front of my house, and I think this
just makes everything a little more eye pleasing. We do
have a deck at the back of the house which allows me to
play a little, with different colors.
My front porch after dark with the topiary lights.
Hope you have enjoyed your visit, please come
again, and don't forget to leave a comment.

What's A Gardener To Do?

We had such a long and cold winter here last year that I could not
wait to get outside and work in my gardens. To my surprise while
working in my backyard garden, I found this under one of my shrubs.
Well who could disturb this scene? So I go to another part of the yard
to work, after all I have major projects to complete. Moving the small
pond from from the front yard to the back so that I could have a
waterfall feature, making the front pond twice as large, adding gold fish,
flowers, well you get the picture.
So to my surprise!! Guess who will not be working on her backyard pond today? But I will say it again, who could distrub this scene?? After all every Mother needs to teach her children to swim... To listen to Mother when she calls.....
And Swim......
Will I ever get to hear the water as it spills over?? Will I ever
plant flowers and watch them bloom as I am sitting on my
deck ? OK, I'll just move to the front yard after lunch, plenty
to do out there. After all it's spring and I'm into major projects
this year.
Well Hello!!!
Think she knew??? After all it is deeper and much larger!!
The work can wait, this is just cute to miss, let them play!!
I can go weed the Iris bed!!!
Do you think she was laughing at me???
I hope you have enjoyed my little cutties!!
I have to say it was three great weeks of watching
them grow and develope!! And I wouldn't change a thing!!!
Think this was strange??? Someday I'll tell you about the birds nest..

First Post

This is my first trip into blog land with my very own pictures. I will be trying to participate in Whats on Your Walls Wednesday hosted by the very creative Barb at Grits and Glamour. Thanks Barb for all you inspiration. Be patient PLEASE, I'm new at this!!!! I will be showing you pictures of my library/music room tonight, as I said in my profile, I love antiques. The first picture hangs over my Grandmothers antique desk. It was painted by Gilbert Smith in 1914. I purchased it at a antique shop while living in Charleston. The second picture was also purchased in Charleston at a tag sale (I think he's just toooo cute). Last but not least another of my favorites, the violin was purchased at another antique store in Charleston with Amazing Grace hanging above!!
