Welcome

Welcome to our old farmhouse. Over the past year I have learned so much history of this house and the people who lived here. Ninety six years of love, loss, hopes and dreams. Preservation continues and there is always a repair to be done. We are trying to be purest in our preservation as much as we possibly can. I hope you follow along and each week I will try to give you a little history of the house as well as the first owners of the house. I've been lucky enough to find a journal from a Granddaughter who talks about the house as well as her Grandparents. So come follow along and learn about this old house as well as the occupants, old and new.

Is Summer Here?

Thanks to Susan at
its time once again for
Metamorphosis Monday.
Be sure to stop by and see all the
wonderful and creative ideals that
are waiting for you there.
If you saw or remember my post from last
week, I showed the coat closet in my
mudroom ,turned into a food pantry.
I also said that the flowered wall paper
boarder would be coming down this summer!
The boarder and the wall paper below the
chair rail were here when we bought the
house and I don't know about you, but I hate
stripping wallpaper, but I was soooo pleased
the previous owners primed and painted
before they put the paper up, so it was toooo
easy to take down!!!
Well....
It was driving me crazy, so I took it down this
week and also added a fresh coat of paint, a
darker more rich tone of gold that I picked
from the stripped wallpaper.
So onto the results.... Last week...
Now.....
A picture of my breakfast area before with
the boarder and the lighter yellow paint.
No boarder and gold paint.
Now onto a small self that is over my sink.
This was here when we bought the house.
The after with a little molding!!
This made a great little plate rack and now I
don't have to worry about them falling off.
I already had the piece, all I needed was
to add the black stain.
I hope you stop by next week for another
installment of my kitchen update. We did a
little work to the center island and a few
other little things to perk up the space.
Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to
let me know what you think.
Oh and before I forget my one year
anniversary will be coming up!!! I will
soon have a preview of the giveaway
for all my followers.
So stay tuned!!!!!!
Bye for Now,

Love the new paint color and what a wonderful change without the border. It looks just wonderful. Love the breakfast area too. The shelf looks great with the spindle railing. What a great idea. Good job. Hugs, Marty

Looks great! I have wall paper I want removed, but really dread the process. I do a better job of staring at it instead of doing something about getting it down. :)
Have a great week.

Love the new look. Much better than with the wallpaper. Mine has slowly been leaving the premises, too.

Ditto the other comments that it looks much better without the wallpaper. Really opens the room up.

And what a smart idea adding the railing to the plate shelf (and the colored plates you put up there look great).

Stop by and see what Allison transformed this week!

I love your changes. Inspiring post! I am just beginning a transformation of my livingroom and a few changes in my diningroom.
I hope mine turns out as well as yours has.
