Welcome

Welcome to our old farmhouse. Over the past year I have learned so much history of this house and the people who lived here. Ninety six years of love, loss, hopes and dreams. Preservation continues and there is always a repair to be done. We are trying to be purest in our preservation as much as we possibly can. I hope you follow along and each week I will try to give you a little history of the house as well as the first owners of the house. I've been lucky enough to find a journal from a Granddaughter who talks about the house as well as her Grandparents. So come follow along and learn about this old house as well as the occupants, old and new.

Silver and Pink

My dining room dressed for Valentines Day.
I carried the theme throughout the room and I will show you that a little later.
Now there is only one thing on this table new and I think you will be surprised  when you find out what it is.

The china is from a very dear friend, she bought it last summer, online yard sale, then decided it just wouldn't work for her, then gifted it to me. A place setting for six including the serving pieces.

I added a little pink depression glass, most of it belonged to my Mother in Law.

The only item I bought for this tablescape. These are from the Dollar Store after Christmas clearance. They were silver and I decided I wanted them pink, so out came the craft paint and I'm happy! After painting them I decided they were to plain so I used a little white to add the little dots.

My silent butler or crumb catcher, I bought at an estate sale years ago. I bought a whole box of silver not really knowing what any of it looked like. Every piece looked just like this due to a fire. Some may not like it but I do. I call it character or life happening.

The flatware is also old. Years ago I was able to find boxes of it at estate sales and antique stores, not so easy to do now. You can also see none of it matches. I have matching silver, once again, thanks to my Father In Law, but I just liked this look for this tablescape.

The vase belonged to my Grandmother and yes it is empty, nothing here blooming and flowers would probably freeze before I got them home. The salt and pepper shakers were given to me from the same friend that gave me the china, she loves flea markets. The bell and candle holder belonged to my Father in Law, he knew I liked old silver and would collect it for me.

So that's my little Valentines Day tablescape, I hope you enjoyed the new, the old and the flea market finds.
See you soon,
Sandy

How fortunate you are to have a friend who would gift you with such beautiful china! Do you have any idea what the pattern name is or manufacturer? You've put together a lovely table (especially love your lace tablecloth). It is very romantic. Well Done, Rosie @ The Magic Hutch
