Welcome

Welcome to our old farmhouse. Over the past year I have learned so much history of this house and the people who lived here. Ninety six years of love, loss, hopes and dreams. Preservation continues and there is always a repair to be done. We are trying to be purest in our preservation as much as we possibly can. I hope you follow along and each week I will try to give you a little history of the house as well as the first owners of the house. I've been lucky enough to find a journal from a Granddaughter who talks about the house as well as her Grandparents. So come follow along and learn about this old house as well as the occupants, old and new.

Say Boo!

It's Treat time again at
so be sure to get over and see
all the wonderful tablescapes
waiting for you there.
Remember no Tricks only Treats! Welcome to "Say Boo!"
Tonight we will be eating with the ghost.
The little ghost on the right of the screen
my youngest made while in Kindergarten,
she's seventeen now,
(yes I am a pack rat, I always knew I would
need it one day, Ha Ha). Now lets work our way around the table
and see what other things we can find.
A mean looking tea light, given to me by a friend
several years ago.
I see Casper has decided to join us for dinner!
I used branches from the yard, spray painted
black with a little Spanish moss for a little
drama.
Boo confetti.
Now onto our place setting.
The place mat is from TJ Maxx, I used a black
plate for my charger, I have had this set of
dishes for many years then a plain white plate
found at a garage sale for my salad plate and
my sandwich plate, I bought several years
ago, clearance sale for .50 each at Gabs.
The napkin rings and napkins were bought
at different times, at different store but match
perfectly.
A happy ghost with his friends.
My glasses are just my everyday tea glasses
with confetti glued on them and topped with
a dripping coat of sugar around the rim of
the glass.
I used school glue, which of course will wash
off very easily.
One last night look.
A daytime look.
I want to thank everyone for visiting and
please don't forget to visit all of today's
participants. Please feel free to leave a
comment, suggestion or question, I enjoy
hearing from everyone.
Bye For Now,
Sandy

Fall Into The Wild Side

It's Thursday and that can only mean one thing
Tablescape Thursday hosted by Susan at
So be sure to drop by and see all the beautiful
tablescapes you are sure to find there. Welcome to:
"Fall On The Wild Side"
A view from above
I guess this is not your typical Fall tablescape, but I
thought I might just give "Fall", a little twist. I have used orange candles in brass candlesticks a
small candlestick lamp with a leopard shade I made
several years ago. The vase covered in leopard is just
a run of the mill green vase that I covered in scraps of
leopard material. The vase along with the
small pumpkin are laying in a large wooden leaf.
As we work our way around the table, another small
pumpkin. I used branches from the yard and dried eucalyptus in the vase, letting it fall onto the table.
The table is covered with three table cloths.
A leopard print on the bottom, with a piece of dark
brown and light brown fabric crossing one another.
I incorporated the wine into the center piece, patiently
waiting in it's little bag.
We also have the coffee service waiting, for our after
dinner treat. I used the matching leopard cups placed
in a black tray with a black coffee server. The black
serving tray is from Hobby Lobby and the coffee server,
came from the thrift store.
I have mixed the place setting with leopard and
orange colors. The leopard dishes I bought
several years ago at Kirklands, The orange water
glass is from JC Penny, I have also had them for years.
The wine glasses are from TJ Maxx, Flatware from Value
City, the napkins are from the thrift store as well as the
chargers. So nothing on this table is designer or high
end, just FUN!
I used two napkins, just for fun and color.
Napkin ring is just a plain brass oval shape.
Small bowls came from my Mother.
I have the soup/salad bowl to match the plates under it.
The bread/salad plates are from JC Penny and were
bought at the same time as the water glasses.
Each wine glass has a wine charm depicting a different
little animal.
I used an amber cordial glass and matching spoon for
salt.
I hope you had fun tonight at my little unconventional
Fall dinner, and will visit again soon.
Please don't forget to leave a comment, suggestion or question.
I love hearing from everyone. Bye For Now,
Sandy

The Misfits

It's Monday and time for Metamorphosis Monday
hosted by Susan at Between Naps on The Porch
and for The Knock Off Knock Out party at
Be sure to pay both our host and all of today's
participants a visit for some very
wonderful inspiration.
Welcome to the sad little story of the," Four Little Misfits".
My .50 lamp shade and .25 bag of white feathers were
laying on separate shelves at the thrift store. Sadly day
after day they kept thinking, why has no one taken us
home and put us together, we could look as good as
that designer lampshade in the magazine and we
wouldn't cost $30.00.
Across town waiting to be sold at the community yard
sale, a little out dated lamp sat wondering what her fate
would be. Will someone buy me, or will I be forced to be
stored away in a cold dark basement for another year?
I just know for, $1.00 someone could take me home and I
could be glamorous again!
I would look soooooo good in silver!!
And we still have another little misfit across town,
waiting in a box for someone, (me) to rescue it and
all his little friends. We are old, but very beautiful
with just a little "Wright's Silver Cream", we would
shine for you, (thanks Bill for the tip).
A $5.00 rescue was in order.
I had to take action!
So as the rescue continues. The feathers and shade are feeling proud, they look
as good as the designer shade in the magazine.
And the little lamp is standing tall again feeling proud
to be wearing her silver. She thinks she looks just as good as the lamp in the
Christmas Gift Shop.
And here they are standing tall, self esteem has been
regained, no longer Misfits.
I hope you enjoyed your visit.
I must go now and try to save more "Misfits".
Please don't forget to,
leave a comment, suggestion or question. I love
hearing from everyone.
Bye For Now,
Sandy
