Welcome

Welcome to our old farmhouse. Over the past year I have learned so much history of this house and the people who lived here. Ninety six years of love, loss, hopes and dreams. Preservation continues and there is always a repair to be done. We are trying to be purest in our preservation as much as we possibly can. I hope you follow along and each week I will try to give you a little history of the house as well as the first owners of the house. I've been lucky enough to find a journal from a Granddaughter who talks about the house as well as her Grandparents. So come follow along and learn about this old house as well as the occupants, old and new.

My First Copy Cat Party at Debbies

My first Copy Cat Party.
Is this not dreamy?
So sophisticated!
Ready for my version?
Here is my playful version.
A little brighter and of course red candles.
I do love the room in the magazine, but maybe for more of a winter look.
Hope you enjoyed my summer time playful room.

Hope you join me at Debbiedoo's and see all the other Copy Cats.

Stop The Car!

Been away for a bit, my youngest just got married last weekend. So you know, you will be seeing lots of pictures. Not only did I do all the decorating of the church and all the flowers for the wedding party which was a grand total of seventeen, I had to come home to a porch renovation. We had lots of pealing, flaking paint not to mention some wood rot.
Now this is the way the old girl looked a few weeks ago....
Lots of plants, my bird bath in the circled walkway and the small lamp on the table.
Well after one week of wedding preparations, the wedding and another four days of scraping, carrying lumber and painting, I took a day off. While driving by one of my favorite thrift stores, promising myself that I would not stop, I see ...............

This!
Sorry for the bad picture, as usual I forgot to take a picture and remembered when I started to paint.
So needless to say this is on the kitchen table, nine o'clock at night.
It's just one of those precast pots but does have some interesting details and a good price, can't beat $30.00.

Better?

She now replaces my birdbath which found a new home in the courtyard.
The two peaces are a marriage! The owner of the thrift store said they didn't go together, but I think they work pretty well together. So after a little black paint, not bad!
And now the new look from the street.
See the bigger lamp?
And yes allot of the plants are gone, after all that work I don't want to put water or heavy pots back on until the paint has time to set for awhile.
What do you think? Which look do you like better?
Can't you just see a wonderful fall arrangement in it?

Now for my second great find, remember the lamp?
Found this great shade at the same store for $6.00.

So along with the yard sale lamp, which I have had for some time and a few of my oldies but goodies, a table scape is born.

So come on up and sit on my old southern porch (with a new floor), drink some sweet tea, talk to the neighbors and enjoy the view.
Thanks for stopping by.
See you soon.
