Welcome

Welcome to our old farmhouse. Over the past year I have learned so much history of this house and the people who lived here. Ninety six years of love, loss, hopes and dreams. Preservation continues and there is always a repair to be done. We are trying to be purest in our preservation as much as we possibly can. I hope you follow along and each week I will try to give you a little history of the house as well as the first owners of the house. I've been lucky enough to find a journal from a Granddaughter who talks about the house as well as her Grandparents. So come follow along and learn about this old house as well as the occupants, old and new.

Soups On

It's Thursday and time for
Tablescape Thursday at
"Between Naps On The Porch". Be sure to visit Susan and all of
today's talented participants for
this weeks inspiration.
We are having a lazy week as far
as tablescapes go at the Copper
household. Husband is in Atlanta
at school, so it's just the two of us.
And as we all know teenagers are
never home, so really it's just me!!
We have had wonderful weather here
in the 60's most of the week with rain
and cooler weather today. A great time
for me to put my gardens to bed for the
winter. A layer of leaves with another
layer of pine straw and everything will be
protected.
So that's why "Soups On".
We are eating at the kitchen island tonight.
I thought I would use red to brighten things
up a bit. We are having potato soup and
cornbread. I pulled out the roosters and a
few of my everyday dishes to put this
together. The soup will be served in the
white rooster tureen, cornbread in the
chicken basket. I am serving milk from my
antique glass milk bottles.
Our soup.
Hot bread.
Cold milk, fresh real butter!
The candle was a gift from my oldest daughter.
The soup bowls are a set of four and have
different recipes on them, for tomato, onion,
chicken and mushroom soup, printed on them.
I received them as a gift several years ago
from a co-worker. I used everyday salad
plates under the soup bowls to hold the bread.
Napkin rings are from the thrift store. I found
three, a rooster, pig and rabbit.
Glasses are from Wal-Mart.
The place mats were a gift from my oldest
daughter.
The napkins were bought at a tag sale
many years ago, I think they may have
been hand made.
A full view of the napkins.
Thanks for visiting, I hope you enjoyed
your stay!
Everyone have a safe and Blessed weekend.

Just Coffee

Welcome to one of every one's favorite
days of the week, Tablescape Thursday.
Be sure to make a stop at Susan's
"Between Naps On The Porch"
for some beautiful tablescapes.
I have been changing things a little in the
house. Taking down the Halloween and
putting up more for Thanksgiving, as
you can see on the fireplace mantle.
As I started to put this post together, I
realized the title should have been Just Coffee
And Desert or Chocolate, Chocolate and
More Chocolate. So follow me to see more...
Since my house is in transition, and I'm still trying to figure out what I have for a Thanksgiving tablescape, I decided to do a simple coffee and desert table for two in front of the fireplace. I used a small mirror on the table for the reflection and to hold my desert. The coffee glasses I got at Gab's, four in a package for $2.00. The desert cups are from the thrift store .50 each, the napkins you saw last week and are also from Gab's .50 each, the desert spoons are from TJ Maxx. I used tea light candles on a stand in the fireplace, to lazy to build a fire, and trust me it would feel really good right now, 31 degrees. The gold candle holder on the table is from TJ Maxx, clearance for $1.00 last winter. Hungry? I used chocolate brown material over my tablecloth. We have chocolate velvet coffee topped with whipped cream, chocolate pudding with whipped cream, and chocolate covered mint cookies.
A closer look at the glasses.
Well I hope you enjoyed my chocolate overload.
Please come back and visit again soon.
I don't know about everyone else but I'm
getting so excited about Christmas decorating.
So I have projects planned everyday!
Please don't forget to let me know what you
think, I love hearing from you!
Bye For Now,
Sandy

Bon appe'tit

It's time for Metamorphosis Monday, so
make sure you visit Susan at
and all of today's participants for some
great inspiration.
My little post this week is a very short one.
I've had a very busy and crazy weekend so
I was lucky to even get this one finished.
I got this little peel and stick from the
Dollar Tree last time I was there. I wasn't sure
what I would do with it, I just thought it was
cute. So after putting on my Thinking Cap....
And looking around the house.... This is what I came up with! DH added the hooks and wire for me to hang it with. I am thinking I might add a couple of antique hooks that I have. Then this little baby will make a very good addition to our outdoor kitchen we hope to put in next summer! Thanks for stopping by, please let me know what you think . I love hearing from everyone. Bye For Now, Sandy
