Welcome

Welcome to our old farmhouse. Over the past year I have learned so much history of this house and the people who lived here. Ninety six years of love, loss, hopes and dreams. Preservation continues and there is always a repair to be done. We are trying to be purest in our preservation as much as we possibly can. I hope you follow along and each week I will try to give you a little history of the house as well as the first owners of the house. I've been lucky enough to find a journal from a Granddaughter who talks about the house as well as her Grandparents. So come follow along and learn about this old house as well as the occupants, old and new.

A Busy Week

The last week has been a busy one. Two trips in one week is allot for this girl! As I have said before I am a volunteer guide at Middleton Plantation in Charleston, that said we are always offered great trips to learn about the Middleton Family as well as extended members of the family. Well I have to tell you, last weeks was the bomb!!! A visit to Chicora Woods Plantation in Plantersville, SC, just outside Georgetown SC. Chicora Woods is a private residence and the owner was so gracious to allow 40 people to tour the house and grounds taking pictures inside the house as well as out side

An outside view of the home and grounds.

This is the back of the home, the portion that you see that forms the L dates back to the 1700's, the rest of the home is from the 1800's

A view from the yard of the Pee Dee River.

Tea in the court yard.

As I said we were allowed to take pictures of the interior, but out of consideration of the owner I have chosen not to post them. Now I can tell you it is quiet the inspiration for any decorator, not your typical plantation home, yes there are exquisite antiques but color, color everywhere!!!
Now the good news is the Plantation is for sale, for a measly 15 million this baby could be yours. If you would like to see more go here or to http://www.sothebysrealty.com/eng/sales/detail/180-l-636-20201245/chicora-wood-plantation-georgetown-sc-, this site has the best photos (most of the ones I have). I promise you will not be sorry!!

See you soon,
Sandy
